Last week, we had the opportunity to host Wilson Moy of Ztec 8cer who came over to Sabah for a break with his family.
A few days before that, we received an e-mail from a ‘Wilson’ who informed us that he was a Penang League player who wished to join us for our weekly ‘grunt’, during his short stay in KK. For a brief moment, we stared at the e-mail uncertain of what to make of it. It was one of those moments where a sense of awe is mix with a tinge of dread. A PENANG LEAGUE PLAYER is coming to our playground!!!
I for one filled my head with an image of a particular bully Wilson I used to know when I was a wee lad, who was like the Hulk (always green and mean!) and always amused himself by forcing us to go round and round and round on the not-so-merry-go-round. When I did finally come to my senses, my beloved el capitan Shawn dropped me another bombshell by telling me that he would not be able to lead this week’s training due to a scheduled office function and gave me the solemn duty of taking care of Nomad and Hulk, er.. I mean, Wilson.. oh, boy…..
I frantically searched around for more information on Wilson. I didn’t have a lot of clues to begin with, as Wilson only mentioned that he trained with the Penang team. However, my weekly AXN C.S.I watching/training thought me to get some leads from our sources in Penang (thank you, Pene) and sure enough, my search was narrowed down to a Ztec 8cer player called Moy…
(Character Profiling of Wilson = League Player + Hulk and had surname Moy). This was it. Ready or not, ♪Wilson Moy is coming to town…♪♪
Training day came and I set a place and time to meet with Wilson @ Hulk Moy. Although we had no idea how he looked like, we relied on the fact that he would be easy to pick-out from the KK crowd since not a lot of Sabahans walk around with their Floorball gear (Plus, he’s the HULK!!)
When we did finally meet up with Wilson, all visions of a Hulkish man with a mean grin quickly vanished as we were greeted by an unassuming young man whose only Hulkish character was his big heart for Floorball. We found out that Wilson is the designated coach for team Ztec 8cer and he spoke passionately about the game and also his future plans for his team as well. After training, we brought Wilson for our customary post-training dinner/supper and Wilson soon found out that our appetite for food is as ravishing as our appetite for Floorball! I guess we are as Hulkish as Wilson as well!! :)
On behalf of team Nomad, we wish the best to Wilson and team Ztec 8cer in their endeavour in the current league and wish to extend our warmest invitation to any visiting Penang Floorball players to join us if they are in town. Just drop us an email, and perhaps a mug shot of yourself so that Leonard doesn’t let his imagination run wild once again!! GO ZTEC!!!!

Time : 2pm - 4pm
Venue : S.M All Saints, Likas
Time : 2pm - 4pm
Venue : S.M All Saints, Likas
The tournament ended with a bang with a matchup between NFC (Nomad Floorball Club) and Reloaded. In the end, the champs were NFC yet it was soo close and adrenalinely exhilarating. First runner-up is Reloaded followed by second-runner up Eklektos. 6 teams participated which were divided into 2 groups; Group 1 (Rainfield, Eklektos and D'Gap) and Group 2 (NFC, Reloaded and Power Oranges). Overall it was an excellent game between the 6 teams and the crowd were kept glued to their seats. Such speed and grace till you lost track of the teams. Anyhow congratulations to all teams for making this tournament a success. They'll be more action to come...sooon. As for now enjoy some snippets from the event.
